Job Description

Role summary

Title: Commercial Systems & Contracting Manager

Reports to: Director of Business Development

Based: Colombo / Malé, coordinating across all markets

This role owns the bridge between our commercial strategy and our technology. It turns business requirements into working systems, ensures every platform we use is correctly scoped, delivered, adopted and kept current, and runs a central contracting function that keeps every rate, allotment and resort detail accurate across all systems. It is a hybrid commercial-technical role, not a pure IT or pure sales position.

Why this role exists

As we scale across the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Russia/CIS, the Middle East and China, our growth increasingly depends on technology: reservation systems, channel managers, an agent-facing platform, and the data that feeds them. Today there is a gap between the commercial team, which knows what the business needs, and the technical side, which knows what the systems can do. The two do not always speak the same language, and workstreams lose definition as a result, with unclear ownership, slipping timelines, and features we have paid for going unused.

This role closes that gap. It is for someone who understands travel systems and infrastructure well enough to work directly with developers and vendors, and who understands commercial reality well enough to know what actually drives bookings and margin. They take ownership of system delivery and adoption end to end, and they bring discipline to our contracting so our platform data is always accurate and current.

Key responsibilities

Systems and delivery

  • Translate commercial requirements into clear technical specifications and work directly with IT and system vendors in their own language: APIs, integrations, data structures.
  • Own the delivery of each system workstream end to end, with a named owner, a milestone, and a clear definition of done measured by first real use rather than by "set up".
  • Audit what has been contracted with each vendor against what has actually been delivered and is usable, and hold vendors to scope.
  • Drive adoption, ensuring teams genuinely use the systems rather than simply that the systems exist.

Central contracting

  • Build and run a central contracting team for the company.
  • Keep every rate, contract, allotment and resort data point accurate and consistent across all platforms.
  • Oversee data uploads, batch loads and automated or AI-assisted data entry, eliminating duplicated manual work.

Integration and coordination

  • Coordinate channel-manager registrations and connections, and connectivity with external partners and wholesalers.
  • Keep availability, stop-sale and inventory data synced across systems so nothing is sold twice or held unnecessarily.

Stakeholder management

  • Act as the single point of coordination between the commercial teams, IT, finance and external vendors on all systems and contracting matters.
  • Report progress clearly against milestones, closing loops without needing to be chased.

Required experience and skills

  • Solid travel-industry experience: DMC, wholesale, OTA, or travel technology.
  • A strong working understanding of travel systems and infrastructure, including reservation systems, channel managers, extranets and APIs, enough to hold credible conversations with both developers and commercial teams.
  • Hands-on experience in contracting and rate or inventory management.
  • A proven project-delivery track record: owning outcomes, setting milestones, and closing them without supervision.
  • Commercial sharpness: a clear grasp of margin, pricing and what drives bookings.
  • Comfort coordinating multiple stakeholders and vendors across time zones and markets.

Attributes we are looking for

  • A translator between commercial and technical worlds, equally comfortable with resort rates and with API language.
  • An owner, not a coordinator: takes a problem and drives it to a result rather than passing it along.
  • Structured and milestone-driven, allergic to work that drifts without a clear definition of done.
  • Bias toward automation and efficiency over throwing manual headcount at a problem.
  • Direct and accountable, able to hold vendors and internal teams to their commitments.

What success looks like

First 3 months

  • Every live system has a named owner, a milestone, and a measurable first-use date.
  • A full audit complete of what each vendor contracted to deliver versus what is actually delivered and usable, with gaps identified.

First 6 months

  • Central contracting team operating, with platform data accurate and current across systems.
  • Key channel-manager and API connections live and in active use.
  • Vendor scope gaps being actively closed, not just logged.

First 12 months

  • Systems fully adopted across all markets, measured by real usage.
  • Contracting data maintained through automated and AI-assisted processes rather than manual duplication.
  • A measurable improvement in quotation speed, data accuracy, and the commercial return we get from our technology.

Reporting line and key relationships

Reports to: Director of Business Development.

Works closely with:

  • IT, as the primary partner on system delivery, integrations and infrastructure.
  • The contracting team, which sits under this role.
  • Sales heads across all markets, to ensure systems serve real commercial needs and are adopted.
  • Finance, on anything touching payment flows, booking-to-finance reconciliation and cost of systems.
  • External vendors and channel-manager partners.

The role is given real authority over the systems and contracting workstreams so that it can own outcomes and hold both internal teams and vendors to their commitments.
