Job Description
We are seeking a responsible and respectful Imaam / Masjid Attendant to lead daily prayers, support Friday prayers and ensure the resort Masjid and surrounding areas are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and presentation.
The successful candidate will report to the Human Resources Manager and will also support the upkeep of designated staff accommodation areas as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform as Imaam for the five daily prayers.
- Make the call to prayer for all regular prayer times.
- Assist the Friday Prayer Imaam as required.
- Ensure the Masjid is clean, prepared and presentable before each prayer.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the ablution area and toilets throughout the day.
- Sweep and mop the Masjid regularly.
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the surrounding Masjid area.
- Carry out basic gardening and watering around the Masjid on a daily basis.
- Assist with cleaning and sweeping designated staff accommodation areas.
- Assist with garbage collection and removal from staff buildings.
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene and safety standards in all assigned areas.
- Report any maintenance or facility issues relating to the Masjid or staff areas to Human Resources.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Human Resources Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
- O' Level standard or equivalent education.
- Must hold the required Imaam certification issued or recognized by the relevant Islamic authority.
- Friday Prayer licence/certification required where applicable.
- Minimum 1 year of experience performing prayers as an Imaam in a Masjid in the Maldives.
- Must be able to lead all five daily prayers confidently.
- Must have strong Qur'an recitation skills, including memorization of Juz Amma.
- Good understanding of prayer procedures and responsibilities of an Imaam.
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and care of the Masjid and surrounding facilities.
- Physically able to carry out cleaning, sweeping, gardening and related support duties.
