Position: Waffle Maker / Dessert Commis

Requirements:

  • Technical Skill: Able to prepare specialized waffle batters from scratch, manage portion controls, and calibrate commercial waffle irons precisely (controlling temperature and timing for different waffle styles like Belgian.

  • Culinary Knowledge: Creative eye for dessert presentation, including precise topping placement, sauce drizzling, and ice cream plating. Familiarity with café-style dessert menus is highly valued.

  • Hygiene: Strict adherence to kitchen cleanliness, deep-cleaning of waffle irons, and general food safety practices.

  • Pace: Able to work efficiently and maintain consistency under pressure during peak café hours and high-volume delivery periods.

  • Soft Skills: Team player with a positive attitude and strong attention to detail.

Profile:

  • Gender: Male preferred

  • Age: 25 – 40 years

  • Nationality: Open (Preferably Sri Lankan, Indian, Indonesian)

  • Education: Culinary diploma or certificate in Pastry/Baking preferred, but proven hands-on experience is prioritized.

  • Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of kitchen experience in making, dessert preparation, or pastry stations in cafés, dessert parlors, or casual dining restaurants.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, mix, and rest specialized waffle batters daily according to company recipes and standards.

  • Operate and maintain commercial waffle irons, ensuring correct baking times, crispiness, and golden-brown quality.

  • Plate and present waffles beautifully with various toppings (fruits, syrups, creams, ice cream) according to presentation guides.

  • Safely operate and perform daily deep-cleaning/seasoning of non-stick waffle grids to prevent burning and flavor contamination.

  • Monitor stock levels of baking ingredients, toppings, and packaging materials, reporting purchasing requirements timely.

  • Minimize batter and topping wastage to assist in controlling kitchen food costs.

  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene guidelines diligently.

  • Coordinate with front-of-house service staff to ensure quick turnaround times for dine-in and delivery orders.
